About Us

The Pretty Platter Charcuterie is the newest venture from owner and founder Maria Gerstel, who retired in July 2024 after a fulfilling career in social work. A mother of four and lifelong host with a love for creating beautiful spreads for friends and family, Maria decided to turn her passion for serving others into something more. Today, she combines her eye for presentation with her heart for hospitality, crafting custom charcuterie experiences that bring people together over delicious spreads and connection.

How do I book the Pretty Cart or a Grazing Table?

We are so excited you are interested in making your next event "pretty" awesome with The Pretty Platter! Firat fill out the inquiry form located on the homepage of our website and we will respond within 24-48 business hours and send you a price quote. As soon as you accept the price quote we will send you an invoice for the service. A booking deposit of 10% of the total is required for you to secure your date. Without the booking deposit, the date has not been reserved.
How do I know my event date is reserved?

The Pretty Platter booking staff will email you with your booking confirmation. We will only send out a booking confirmation once the 10% of the total invoice which is our standard booking deposit has been paid in full.
What if someone in my party has an allergy?

We take food allergies extremely seriously so please let us know if you or a guest has an allergy and we will cater the menu to exclude the allergy all together or prepare the guests with allergies separately prepared food.
Do you offer vegetarian, vegan, or gluten-free options?

Yes! We can create plant-based boards and accommodate gluten-free requests. Just let us know dietary restrictions during booking.
Can I request specific cheeses, meats, or themes?

Absolutely! We love incorporating your favorites and personal touches to make your grazing table or cart unique.
Does the Pretty Platter use nuts?

We are proud to share that The Pretty Platter is the only nut free mobile cart in Westmoreland and Allegheny counties! We take these allergies very seriously and find other ways to include delicious and carefully curated spreads without the hazard of one of the largest allergies in the United States!
Is Gratuity Included?

If you feel we served your guests with the best possible service that we are known for, we would be so grateful for any tips that go directly to the workers who have served you during the event! Gratuity is not included and never expected but always appreciated!
What is included in a grazing table?

Our grazing tables feature curated selections of charcuterie, cheeses, seasonal fruits, breads, crackers, spreads, and artistic styling with fresh florals or greenery.
How far in advance should I book a grazing table?

We recommend booking at least 4–6 weeks in advance, especially for weddings and holidays, as dates fill quickly.
How many people can a grazing table feed?

We customize tables for groups as small as 20 to 200+ guests. Serving size depends on whether it’s meant as an appetizer, light meal, or main feature.
How far in advance sould I book the Pretty Cart?

We highly recommend booking the Pretty Cart 4-6 weeks in advance for time for customizations and menu finalizing. Dates do fill up fast so as soon as you know your date, the better it is for you to book!
How many guests does the cart serve?

The cart is perfect for intimate gatherings and cocktail hours, typically serving up to 50–75 guests depending on your menu selection. We can always cater the cart to your needs including if there are more guests in attendance and then we would upgrade you to the Pretty DELUXE Package where you would have 2 or more staff members serving you and your guests for the most fun, interactive experience!
How does the mobile cart work?

Our cart is styled, decorated, and rolled right into your event space. We set it up with fresh charcuterie selections and serve guests directly.
Can the cart be customized?

Yes! We can theme the cart with seasonal accents, colors, or florals to match your event. We can also customize the stickers on the mobile charcuterie cups or boats to match a logo or your event theme!
What is The Pretty Platter?

Do you only offer charcuterie, or can you include other items?

Our specialty is charcuterie, but we can also incorporate artisan breads, dips, sweets, and seasonal add-ons to fit your vision. For example, we had a bride have an Italian themed bridal shower and wee added custom caprese and other italian goodies to spice up the event and match the theme! If you are interested in customizing your own items in the cart, you will then be eligible for the Pretty DELUXE Package which comes with customization ability for the items inside the cart being served to guests!
